Used Farm Tractors
What a lot of people are unsure about are the number of Japanese used farm tractors available, such as Yanmar, Hinomoto, Mitsubishi, Kubota and so forth. Typically these types of tractors are referred to as “gray market” tractors as they are specifically built for use in Japan but are often then exported to another country. While it is not illegal to do this for all used tractors, some such as the Kubato tractors are illegal to import. Thus caution must be issued as to where you obtain your used tractor. Make sure they are authorised distributors and dealers and correctly advise you. The other consideration that must be given to the decision to elect to purchase a used farm tractor is whether you will be able to obtain complementary and replacement accessories. Obviously the more obscure the brand the less likely it will be you can obtain parts and the more expensive. Factors that should be considered when purchasing a ‘used’ farm tractor include the history, year of make, whether it has been reconditioned, whether servicing is available, is there a dealer or distributor warranty? Finally, make sure you do not compromise on what you are looking for in a tractor just because you do not find one exactly that you are after. There are so many second-hand farm tractors continually being sold you are better to wait for another one to come along.
