Farm Tractors

Farm tractors generally are tractor with engine capacities of 40+ HP and are used with a variety of implements to assist in general agricultural tasks such as plowing, shovelling, lifting and transporting. There are a number of standard types of “farm tractors”. These include:-

  • 4WD
  • Diesel or gas,
  • compact tractors
  • utility tractors,
  • those with front-end loaders, or
  • W/t back-hoe

Other considerations for farm tractors are whether to elect for a diesel model or not. When considering the power of a tractor is helpful to understand that 1 HP or one horsepower is the amount of energy required to lift 550 pounds one foot in one second. In a tractor the energy is produced from torque and engine speed.
