John Deere Lawn Tractors

The John Deere Tractor Company started its life began its life quite simply as a manufacturer of plowing equipment which then evolved into development of other farm-related apparatus. John Deere soon established a market for their ‘farm tractors’ and so the focus of the business was soon dominated by the production of agricultural tools and vehicles, now distinguishable by their distinctive green and yellow markings.

Today, John Deere have again added to their range of tractors by selling lawn tractors designed specifically for individuals wishing to use a modified version of a farm tractor for their own personal use at home. Often found in private gardening businesses, lawn tractors easily add time to your day by saving you minutes on each job. John Deere’s 3 lawn tractor models are:-

  • LT 133
  • LT 155
  • LT 166
Marketed as their key features are a 15 inch turning radius, seat adjustment, seat springs, headlights as standard, full welded steel frame body, numerous attachments etcetera. Both the LT 133 and 155 “lawn tractors” use Kohler air-cooled Command engines (13 & 15 horse-power respectively). Other features of the lawn tractors are their impressive transmissions, with the LT 155 & 166 models both having an INTEGRATED AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE as well as twin touch automatic control. Other small details have not been forgotten either with an ergonomically design control console and this extends through to the high-back operators seat. The dash is pleasantly laid-out and is colour-coded for easy of operation. Whatsmore, unlike most machinery John Deere claims to have ‘logically placed’ controls making them ‘easy to reach’.

John Deere lawn tractors have a rotary dial adjustment knob for the purpose of allowing you to control the height of your grass once cut, making this process both quick and very easy. The mower cuts heights from 1 to 4 inches and this can be adjusted with ¼ inch increments.
